This two-and-half-day event will present you with a unique scientific programme, consisting of state-of-the-art symposia, outstanding keynote lectures, as well as oral & poster presentations given by researchers from Europe and beyond. Between SEPTEMBER 15-17, 2022 , Marseille will be the place to be for prominent scientists and early-career researchers to REUNITE for the exchange of latest research findings in many disciplines of dentistry and the related fields after a long period of research precarity.
The PAN EUROPEAN REGION of the International Association for Dental Research (PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress) constitutes the five European Divisions of IADR: BSODR (British Division), CED-IADR (Continental European Division), Irish Division, Israeli Division and NOF (Scandinavian Division). These Divisions will join forces to organise an international, multi-disciplinary scientific meeting in Marseille, France that more than 1,200 participants are expected to attend.
The PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress Organising & Scientific Committee strongly encourages you to SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT and present your work to a wider public at the PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress. When dentists, researchers, clinicians and students collaborate, scientific research is advanced in all the disciplines of oral and cranio-facial health. PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress ’s aim is to remain active even in times of crisis and provide a larger platform for presentations, networking and dissemination of new scientific information, thus improving the cooperation across country borders and bringing oral health to the attention of the EU.
Be aware that, as a health organisation, we are closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation to guarantee that all regulations in force at the time of the meeting will be followed in preparation for and during the event. We take the health of our delegates very seriously and will provide solutions for those who are unable to travel due to unforeseen circumstances.
The congress will take place at the marvelous venue “Palais du Pharo”, which is located in the old city quarter of Marseille. It offers an exceptional view over the bay and the old harbour of Marseille.
The city of Marseille is the main commercial port of France with excellent transportation infrastructure, connecting bustling highways, ancient shipping routes, international airways and railways. Besides, Marseille is also France's second largest research center with the large and prestigious Aix Marseille University. Marseille is also very famous for its gastronomy and leisure activities. On top of that, the wonderful weather in September allows for sailing, swimming, hiking and climbing in the famous creeks (les Calanques)…
It is therefore with the utmost delight that we invite you to our PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress, here in Marseille. Let us join forces to improve oral health research in Europe.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH EXCHANGE is more important than ever. Let’s combine our efforts more than ever to promote and advance oral health throughout Europe and beyond!
See you in Marseille!

The Pan European Region of the International Association for Dental Research serves as an umbrella organisation that brings together national dental research divisions from countries across Europe. Its mission centres on promoting the exchange of scientific findings among researchers in oral health and related disciplines. By uniting national societies under one regional framework, the organisation strengthens the collective voice of European dental science and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration that advances the broader field of dentistry.
Oral health research stands at the intersection of many scientific disciplines, ranging from molecular biology and material science to public health and clinical practice. The congress provides a unique forum where these fields converge, allowing investigators to share methodologies and insights that might otherwise remain isolated within specialised communities. This multi-disciplinary character transforms the meeting into a catalyst for innovation, as researchers discover unexpected connections between their work and that of colleagues in seemingly unrelated areas of oral science.
The annual congress has earned a reputation as one of the largest dental research meetings in Europe, drawing participants from across the continent and beyond. Presenters range from established scientists delivering keynote lectures to early career researchers presenting their first poster findings. The diverse programme accommodates this breadth through symposia, oral presentations, workshops, and seminars that run alongside one another, ensuring that every attendee can find sessions relevant to their specific research interests while also exploring new areas of inquiry.
Abstract submission and peer review form the backbone of the scientific programme, guaranteeing that presentations meet rigorous standards of quality and originality. Researchers preparing submissions must adhere to clear regulations regarding formatting, word counts, and ethical considerations. The timeline for abstract submission typically allows several months between the opening call and the deadline, giving investigators ample opportunity to refine their work. Successful submissions are then organised into thematic sessions, creating coherent programmes that facilitate focused discussion within specialised research areas.
The programme at any given congress reflects a careful curation of contemporary issues facing oral health researchers. Sessions may address caries prevention, periodontal disease mechanisms, dental materials innovation, oral cancer screening, or the integration of digital technologies in clinical practice. Workshops complement the formal presentations by offering hands-on experience with emerging research techniques. Throughout the meeting, participants find numerous opportunities to meet with potential collaborators, engage with mentors, and discuss career trajectories with senior investigators.
Continuing medical education accreditation adds professional value to the congress experience for clinicians and academic researchers alike. Participants can earn continuing education credits while immersing themselves in cutting-edge science, making the meeting efficient for those managing busy schedules. The combination of formal learning and informal networking creates an environment where professional development occurs organically, as conversations over coffee or during social events often prove as formative as the scheduled scientific exchanges happening in parallel sessions throughout the programme.
Awards and competitions recognise outstanding contributions across various career stages, from student researchers to distinguished senior scientists. These recognitions celebrate both methodological innovation and substantive findings that advance the field. Award categories typically span poster presentations, oral research communications, and mentorship excellence. The competitions encourage rigorous preparation while offering recipients visibility within the international research community, often opening doors to future collaborative opportunities and career advancement.
Social events are organised to complement the formal scientific programme, providing structured opportunities for informal interaction among participants. Evenings feature gatherings where researchers from different countries and disciplines can connect beyond the constraints of session schedules. Such interactions frequently spark the international collaborations that characterise European dental research. The congress deliberately cultivates an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming, ensuring that first-time attendees feel as valued as returning members of the research community.
Exhibitors and sponsors play an essential supporting role, showcasing the latest equipment, materials, and publishing opportunities relevant to oral health research. Their presence bridges the gap between laboratory investigation and practical implementation, exposing researchers to tools that can enhance their future work. Sponsorship categories recognise different levels of engagement, from major partners supporting keynote lectures to smaller contributors enabling poster sessions or workshops. This commercial-academic interface enriches the congress experience for everyone involved.
Selecting a memorable congress city contributes significantly to the overall atmosphere of the meeting. The chosen venue typically offers world-class conference facilities alongside cultural attractions that enrich the visitor experience. Host cities across the continent take turns expressing this welcoming spirit, with each location adding its own distinctive character to the event. Accommodation options cater to various preferences and budgets, while visa support services assist international participants in navigating administrative requirements, ensuring that researchers can focus on science rather than logistics.
